Last month, Kate and Josh from our team had the privilege of attending the LIANZA Conference 2025, held at Tākina Wellington. The biannual event brought together library, information, culture and heritage professionals from across Aotearoa for three inspiring days of learning, kōrero, and connection.
With over 75 presentations, panels, workshops and talks, the conference was a vibrant celebration of the people and ideas shaping the future of New Zealand’s library sector. The 2025 theme, focused on adapting to change and responding to community needs in sustainable ways, resonated deeply with us as an organisation that proudly supports libraries nationwide with the largest range of library furniture and consumables available.
A high-energy atmosphere
There was a tangible buzz in the air as librarians, suppliers, educators and thought-leaders reconnected and shared ideas. The conference hall was humming with conversation – a clear reflection of the enthusiasm within the library community for learning and collaboration.
We loved seeing how passionate attendees were about what they do. Libraries are such a cornerstone of community life, and it was wonderful to see that passion on full display throughout the event. For us, being part of that energy was motivating. It reminded us exactly why we do what we do.
Libraries of the future
The sessions and discussions offered plenty of food for thought about the evolving role of libraries. From embracing digital transformation to creating more inclusive, accessible and sustainable spaces, it’s clear that libraries are continuing to adapt in innovative ways to meet community needs.
These insights have inspired us to keep thinking about how our own products and services can support “libraries of the future.” Whether that’s through flexible furniture solutions that make it easy to reconfigure spaces for different uses, or through new consumables that streamline day-to-day operations, our goal is always to make life easier for those who make libraries work.
We left the conference with a deeper understanding of how design, practicality and sustainability can all work hand-in-hand to enhance the experience for both staff and visitors.
More than just books
One message echoed throughout the conference – that libraries are about so much more than books. They’re spaces for connection, creativity and care. They’re hubs of learning, wellbeing and community support.
This aligns perfectly with what we see every day through our relationships with libraries around New Zealand. Whether it’s helping a small rural library create a welcoming children’s area or assisting a large urban facility with ergonomic furniture to support long study sessions, we know that libraries play a vital role in enriching lives.
Engaging with the wider library community
One of the most rewarding parts of attending LIANZA 2025 was the opportunity to engage with people we hadn’t met before: members of the wider library ecosystem who are equally passionate about shaping the future of information and learning spaces.
We had countless valuable conversations at our stand and around the venue, meeting people who shared their experiences, challenges and ideas. These discussions helped us gain fresh perspectives and sparked ideas for how we can continue to evolve and innovate to better meet the needs of libraries across Aotearoa. As a one-stop supplier for all things library – from shelving and seating to labelling, stationery and display materials – we take pride in listening to our clients and responding to their needs.
Looking ahead
We left the LIANZA Conference 2025 feeling energised, inspired and grateful to be part of such an innovative and community-driven sector.
