Te Ara Matauranga – Waihi Beach Library & Service Centre
Int. Workspaces was approach by the Western Bay of Plenty District Council in December 2023, requesting support with the specification and layout of shelving for the new Waihi Beach Library project.
A preliminary design and collection data was provided, which gave us an understanding of the space, as well as detailed information around each collection, including the number of items in each collection and circulation information. Conference meetings were then held to discuss preferred shelving types per collection and the overall flow of the library. Int. Workspaces then used this data to calculate the quantity of shelving needed to shelf each collection. A proposal was then submitted which included initial layout concepts and specifications for proposed shelving types for each book collection.
Our proposal met their requirements and as a result, Int. Workspaces were approved as the contracted supplier for the library shelving for this project. Over the next few months, we worked with the council and our New Zealand suppliers to design and develop a range of custom Library products to fit the space. This included custom magazine and newspaper shelving unit, a custom modular seating unit, display units and ottomans.
In June 2025, our delivery and installation team were on site for two days and delivered all furniture items and successfully installed approx. 300LM of Steel Shelving.
