Higgins Contractors Ltd

Following a successful fit out in Napier for Higgins Contractors, after Cyclone Gabrielle, Int. Workspaces were engaged to develop an office space in Palmerston North for them.

The office was to be located on the first floor of a newly renovated building and would be home to over 70 office staff spread over the 750m2 space. The ground floor was to be occupied by their Operations Team who would also have offices and changing room facilities for a further 100 staff.

Int. Workspaces were given a conceptual furniture floor plan from the client’s architect, but were given creative freedom to develop the space to better suit the client’s needs.

The space would incorporate an open plan environment with dedicated “zones” for each office department. We had created plenty of break out areas between zones for collaborative work as well as including plenty of high sided booth seating for privacy. The office space featured one of our new Office Phone Booths to help muffle those noisy phone calls. The changing rooms downstairs included products from our range of Changing Room Lockers.

Our design incorporated a variety of products and finishes that were used in the previous project to allow for a consistent look and feel over both office spaces.

Consultation of this project began in December 2023, and was delivered late 2024.

When our client approved the office layout, we established furniture requirements and specifications. We did this by understanding our client’s business, how the space was going to be used and of course the client’s budget to ensure we could supply and install fit for purpose products.

The final stage, before signoff, was product finishes. This included considering Melteca, Veneer, Solid Wood, Powdercoat, Acoustic Panels and our large range of fabric options for soft seating and screens.

The project peam then worked alongside our client and their contractors to ensure all products were manufactured to a high standard, delivered reliably, assembled, then installed within the project timeline. Completed by our own install team – this ensured a seamless fit out from start to finish.
